How To Read A Dark Screen
Barnaby Booth
Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.
Anne Frank
How To Read A Dark Screen has a single torch as the only source of light, and there are moments of total darkness. Emphasising the dancer’s movement through silhouettes and shadows; allowing the mind to imagine when you are unable to visually see.
Alice first met Barnaby whilst they were both training at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and they continue to remain dear friends after graduating.

She was thrilled to work with Barnaby on this project in 2015:
Barnaby’s passion for both creating and lighting design intertwine harmoniously and it was such a joy to collaborate with him and all the dancers involved. My eyes opened to the infinite possibilities of how lighting can mould and completely evolve dance on stage.
